“Life happens.”

“Just do it.”

Don’t wait for perfection before you startStart somewhere so you can have something tangible you can work to perfect.”

These are just a few of the many motivational quotes I’ve taken screenshots of and kept saved in my phone’s gallery for years. Similarly, starting this blog has been something I’ve kept on my mind’s to-do list for just as long. It’s part of a longer bucket list, which also includes the universally shared goal of committing to a healthier lifestyle. But for now… let me at least get this one thing underway.

I must confess right off the bat that I don’t yet have a specific direction for this blog. Initially, I wanted my writing to focus solely on whether art imitates life, or if it’s the other way around—life imitating art. But now, I’m thinking I’ll write about whatever I can truthfully explore. Whatever interests me. Whatever I find eye-opening. Whatever I feel might inspire someone. This will include movie and series reviews, since I enjoy watching what I consider “good TV,” along with sharing my thoughts on trends and current affairs, considering my background in journalism.

In the spirit of introductions, here are some interesting (I hope) facts about me:

I’m an old soul and a lover of ’90s music. My favourite artists include Tevin Campbell, SWV, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, Babyface, Bobby Brown, K-Ci & JoJo, Luther Vandross, Mary J. Blige, Mint Condition, New Edition, Tony! Toni! Toné!, and Whitney Houston.

If I could add three abilities to who I am, they’d be: an amazing singing voice, math wizardry—Hidden Figures-level brilliance—and athleticism, particularly as a runner.

I share the same first name and surname as an established Zambian journalist.

Over the past year, I’ve developed a keen interest in rugby, mostly following the South African Sharks and Springboks. I have a few favourites on those teams (hides face in palms).

I absolutely love cake, though I’m still undecided about my preferred flavour.

I’ve always been drawn to the character of houses. I used to build homes in Sims Freeplay, inspired by the places my family and I lived in over the years.

If I could be any animal, I’d choose to be a bird—though I must add that dogs are my favourite animals.

I don’t have a favourite season. Winter comes with endless laundry from all the layering, and summer gets too hot to handle—plus, that’s when lizards seem to thrive.

So, here’s a glimpse of who I am—I hope you’ll stick around and keep reading.
